Get SMART with your PPC campaigns – part 2

To optimize your pay per click campaigns it sometimes helps to use tried and tested marketing tools to keep you focused on the job in hand. The SMART acronym is a great way of making sure you have planned your PPC campaign well and to ensure you stand the best chance of getting great results. Following on from the previous article here are more ways to use SMART:

Attainable and Realistic
These targets go hand in hand. Is it a realistic goal to boost orders by 25 per cent within a certain time period? It might well be possible but you’ll have other factors that contribute towards it being possible. Sales tend to be driven partly by radio and/or TV exposure within the direct response industry. If the exposure to these media remains unchanged for a product then it can be very hard to increase PPC campaign results significantly. It is of paramount importance to understand that small improvements to click though rates or conversions will only affect the revenues generated if there is a large increase in traffic.

Timely
The timing is essential for all direct response campaigning particularly where products have a small life span. The life span may be affected by seasonality – for example gardening products tend to be popular in spring and summer – or whether it is driven by market demand – for example, technology is driving an updated version within six months – you must maximize the efforts of pay per click when most effective.

At www.clickconsult.com we can manage your PPC campaigns to ensure you get the best out of your PPC management budget.

Map your site for success

Is your site mapped? All too many sites go through search engine optimisation, but fail to cap it off with an XML sitemap. These maps are important for a site’s communication with the search engines, and should be updated frequently.

The purpose of an XML sitemap is slightly different from its on-screen cousin, the regular site map that you will display for your site’s users. An XML sitemap is there to help the search engines find their way through your site. A sitemap does exactly what it says on the box: provides a clear map of the site so that the search engines can find everything they need in the easiest manner possible.

Many site owners skip this bit of optimisation because they feel it’s unnecessary. The overhaul of site architecture during the search engine optimisation process should leave a site with clear paths for search engines to follow. If the SEO work has been properly, these site owners feel, then a sitemap should be surplus to requirements. Read the rest of this entry »

Get SMART with your PPC campaigns – part 1

When looking for ways to optimize you PPC management campaign you can’t go wrong using the SMART goals principle – Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely. Read on to find out how this simple aid can help your pay per click success:

Specific
There seems to be a tendency to drive for more, more, more in PPC campaigns. You need more revenue, more orders and more clicks. And although aiming for ‘more’ isn’t a bad start it’s very vague. Start off all your PPC campaigns with a definitive goal. For example ‘To improve click through rates by 5 per cent within one month period’ or ‘To increase orders via SEM by 3 per cent.’ This way you can remain focused on the campaign in hand whether starting a new campaign or renewing an old one.

Measurable
The ability to run a successful PPC campaign is about being able to monitor traffic and sales accurately. You need to carry out analysis on your keywords and ad groups on a regular basis to ensure you have fully optimised campaigns. As well as getting most out of those ads and keywords that do perform and convert you need to identify those that consistently fail to produce orders. There are many tests you can carry out to analyse the effectiveness of your campaigns and you should set up your testing at the outset of a campaign once you have identified the goals you have in mind.

At www.clickconsult.com, we can help to run your pay per click campaigns like clockwork.

SharePoint Server 2010 Data Connection Library

What is a Data Connection Library in SharePoint Server 2010?
A Data Connection Library in Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 is a library that can contain two kinds of data connections: an Office Data Connection (ODC) file or a Universal Data Connection (UDC) file. Microsoft InfoPath 2010 uses data connections that comply with the Universal Data Connection (UDC) file schema and typically have either a *.udcx or *.xml file name extension. Data sources described by these data connections are stored on the server and can be used in standard form templates and browser-enabled form templates.

SharePoint Server 2010 Access Services

Another SharePoint Server 2010 feature which cannot go unnoticed is the Access Services. Access Services is a service in SharePoint Server 2010 that allows administrators to view, edit, and configure a Microsoft access application within a Web Browser. Access Services settings support backup and recovery, regardless of whether there is a UI setting in Central Administration. However, backup and recovery only apply to service-level and administrative-level settings; end-user content from the Access application is not backed up as part of this process. Access Services has Windows PowerShell functionality that can be used to provide the service that uses settings from a previous backup; configure and manage macro and query setting; manage and configure session management; and configure all the global settings of the service.

SharePoint 2010 has Multi-Tenancy – Rooms Available

An ability to host multiple clients/departments, and provide the ability to isolate their workloads and still provide all the platform features is one of the significant task while adopting a SharePoint platform in your company, isn’t it? For a cloud/ hosting situation we may have a need for multiple clients to have their own work areas, and the ability to host applications which does not hinder other sites within the same farm. This is when the Multi-tenancy feature of SharePoint Server 2010 comes into picture.

Take advantage of SharePoint Multi-Tenancy and other useful features of SharePoint 2010 hosting, SharePoint Foundation hosting or SharePoint Server 2010 – with shared or dedicated hosting by a SharePoint 2010 hosting provider.

So what is Multi-tenancy?
Multi-tenancy is all about isolation of data, operation services and management between multiple subscribers who could be departments/ companies/ different user groups, etc.

In SharePoint Server 2010, some new improvements or changes have been added to the Multi-tenancy feature that was missing in SharePoint Server 2007. SharePoint 2010 has introduced significant improvements in Multi-tenancy so that multiple subscribers can use the same SharePoint instance with the required isolation. The primary concept which has been introduced is called Site Subscriptions. Site subscriptions are a way to group a set of Site Collections based on tenants. It allows tenants to have fine grained administration and control over data as well as administrative components.

In brief, the multi-tenancy feature in SharePoint 2010 provides out-of-the-box features to provide quick productivity for companies deploying SharePoint to support multiple clients/ departments with isolation with respect to data, administration as well as usability.
